Application Specific Tutorials

Programs, just like anything else you create and build, require you to use a set of tools. The web pages below will teach you to use the tools that UT is currently making available to you.

These tools are 1) a secure user accounting system (ENGR), 2) An application server (CITRIX) to host software application that you can use anywhere (as long as you are a member of ENGR), and 3) a powerful programming environment. (.NET pronounced dot-net)

You should only have to complete the first tutorial once. The second two contain procedures you may use quite often. You may want to bookmark these pages until the material becomes second nature.

  1. Opening an ENGR account
  2. This section covers how to open an ENGR account. It includes screenshots and a video to aide you in the process.
  3. Accessing Application Server
  4. This covers accessing applications on the Mechanical Engineering's Application Server.
  5. Writing a 'Hello World!' program in C++
  6. Every time you write a program from scratch, start with a simple program that ensures your computer and programming environment are in working order. This tutorial will tell you how to do this in the preferred prgramming environment for this course.
  7. Writing a 'Hello World!' program in Java

  8. Writing Applets in Java using BlueJ
  9. We've added a new software development tool to the \"Code Development\" section of the applicatoin server. It's called BlueJ and it is used for creating Java applets.
