Engineering Programming C, MATLAB, JAVA by Mark Austin and David Chancogne, John Wiley and Sons, 1999

Software

Students will need access to the following computer software: .Net, MatLab and either Netscape 4.0 (or higher), Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher), FireFox or Safari. These browsers should have FLASH and SHOCKWAVE installed. Links to download the browser related software are on the homepage. The required application software is available in the Mechanical Engineering computer lab, ETC 2.126. This software can also be found in the labs at 3.112 and 3.134. Some students may want to use their personal computers from home to complete this course. The required application software such as .Net and MatLab can be accessed from home using the application server hosted by the Computer Administration Group of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The students NEED NOT purchase .Net and MatLab. Instructions to install the client software needed to access the application server are available on the course homepage.plugins

Course Philosophy

This coursewill be taught using the Personalized System of Instruction (PSI). The major communication between students, proctor and instructor will be off net web server at http://me205serv.me.utexas.edu. Absences

Since this is a self-paced course, attendance will not be taken. The students should, however, maintain consistent progress through the course to ensure completion by the end of the semester

Dropping

An undergraduate student may not drop a course after the fourth day (second day for Summer) except for good cause (health or serious personal problems, or a demonstrated need to work more hours).

WEB-BASED CLASS SITES
In Spring 2003, web-based, password-protected class sites will be available for all academic courses taught at the University. Syllabi, handouts, assignments, and other resources are types of information that may be available within these sites. Site activities could include exchanging e-mail, engaging in class discussions and chats, and exchanging files. In addition, class e-mail rosters will be a component of the sites. Students who do not want their names included in these electronic class rosters must restrict their directory information in the Office of the Registrar, Main Building, Room 1.
